Silverpoint officially released a new module, MyAlerts! in 2011 and are happy to add it to its product offering. The module allows site visitors to subscribe to receive notification by email and/or SMS text message when events are added or changed to various parts of the site, such as homepage news, athletics events, academic class page assignments.
MyAlerts! currently supports subscriptions to the following content types:
-
News Articles in any News category, including password-protected categories
-
Calendar Events in any Calendar category, including password-protected categories
-
Athletic Events for individual Teams in the Silverpoint SchoolSuite® Athletics module (Both Team Schedule calendar items and Team Practice calendar items are supported.)
-
Class Events, News and Homework for Class Pages in the Silverpoint SchoolSuite® Academic Class Pages module
The User Experience
-
Users manage their alerts on a single page on your website, and only see content categories to which they have access
-
Users can select, by content category to be alerted for items added, changed, and/or deleted (i.e. SMS for athletic event changes, email for athletic news)
-
Alert emails contain Title, Date, Location, and URL for events and Title, Date, and Byline for News articles
-
SMS text messages contain links and an abbreviated description of the content so only a single text message is triggered per alert, per user
-
A link is included to the item detail page on the website and a token lets users click a link to view and modify their alert settings
Configuring MyAlerts!
Site Managers determine which content categories are available for end-users to create subscriptions against
MyAlerts! can be configured so that it is available only to users who are able to “log in" to the website or can be configured so that all public visitors are able to setup and manage alerts subscriptions
